Homework is an integral part of the curriculum and should reinforce, extend and consolidate learning beyond the classroom. Homework should be purposeful and designed to:
Research from the Education Endowment Foundation indicates that homework is most effective when it is linked directly to classroom learning, completed regularly and focused on practice, retrieval and independent study.
Teachers will set at least the minimum amount of homework for each class they teach each week. Please see below for the recommended weekly time per subject for each year group.
Teachers will ensure that homework is manageable, meaningful and proportionate to pupils’ age and stage of learning.
