Normal working hours – from 7.55 pm – 10.00 pm, Monday - Friday (on occasion additional hours/overtime will be required)

Required for April Start

Local Government Pay Structure: Scale 8 – 11
(£11.81 per hour rising with annual increments to £12.47 per hour)

The Sweyne Park School is the lead school in the Rayleigh Schools Trust, and works with Glebe Primary School, providing a 3 – 19 educational experience for the local community. 

We are looking for an Evening Caretaker to join the busy site maintenance team, based at The Sweyne Park School.  The role will involve site security, checking on other site users and locking the school site at the end of the evening.  The job can be complex at times balancing the need to secure the school, be the first point of contact with users of our facilities, clearing up after use of facilities and any other relevant issues that might occur.  The school has a number of staircases and there will be occasions when furniture will need moving around the site.

The school prides itself on excellent working conditions and environment. Full training and support will be provided at the start of employment as necessary.

The Successful Candidate will be Expected to:

  • Engage with the school’s commitment to the safeguarding of all pupils and staff;
  • Comply with the school’s Code of Conduct;
  • Acquire new skills and be available to attend relevant training if required;
  • Dress appropriately so as to maintain a professional image (work attire will be supplied). 
  • Follow procedures with and without supervision;
  • Take care and pay attention to the good upkeep and condition of the building and grounds. 
  • Not put themselves at any risk. 

This post runs throughout the calendar year including school holidays and there may be some flexibility available in the holiday periods.

A full DBS check is required for this role and will be completed by the school upon appointment.

The successful candidate may be required to work across all school sites within the Trust.
