Uniform

Now that it seems we have truly entered the Autumn months, I wanted to take the opportunity to ask you to remind your child(ren) of our expectations around uniform.  Pupils are expected to wear full school uniform, including a school jumper.  Hoodies (including those with the Sweyne Park logo) are not permitted nor should sweatshirts or coats be worn anywhere inside the school building, but rather stored away in lockers or bags.  Finally, a reminder that pupils should not wear white socks, any knee length socks, non-stud earrings or rings.  Please click here to view our school Uniform Policy in full.

Flu Vaccinations

We were pleased to welcome the School Immunisation Team yesterday to administer the annual flu vaccination to pupils. The vaccine was given as a quick and simple nasal spray.

Due to the number of pupils being vaccinated and the clinical team’s capacity on the day, they were unfortunately unable to reach our Year 11 pupils before the end of the session.

The Immunisation Team will be returning to school on 8 October to vaccinate Year 11 pupils, along with any other eligible pupils who were unable to receive their vaccination yesterday.

Thank you to our pupils for their cooperation and to parents and carers for supporting this important programme, which helps to protect our school community during the flu season.

Our Online Help Centre

I wanted to remind you that you can obtain help to access a number of online platforms that we use in school by visiting our Help Centre on our website, simply click the “Help” button on the top left-hand side of the home screen.

In particular, for anyone having difficulties accessing Go4Schools, there is a very useful “how to” guide available. Alternatively you can click here and you will be directed to the relevant page for Go4Schools support.

Whilst our IT Team are always very happy to help with any technical queries, you will find answers to a lot of FAQs within the documents contained in our online Help Centre and so it is always worth a quick look before contacting us.

And Finally….

Have a great weekend.

What do you do when you're not in school?

We would love to hear about your hobbies, interests and achievements...

If you have any stories and/or photos that you would like to share, please contact us at pupilservices@sweynepark.com

National Poetry Day:
Poetry Competition Winners Announced

On Thursday, we celebrated National Poetry Day with the prize presentation for the Library’s Annual Poetry Competition.

This year’s theme of wonder inspired thoughtful and imaginative writing. Our winning poems approached the theme in different ways, exploring both the beauty of everyday moments and the feelings that connect us to others.

Our winner was Brooke (Year 11), for her stunning poem “Still Turning”. Through vivid images of birds, golden sunlight and twinkling stars, Brooke invites the reader into a world of questions and reflection. Her poem moves between observations of nature and thoughts about human connection, before drawing our attention back to the little things we can so easily overlook.

The judges loved Brooke’s vivid imagery and attention to detail, which made us “wonder” too.

Our runner-up was Darcy (Year 7), with her poem “My Seven Wonders of Her”. Darcy explored wonder through the senses, using sight, sound, touch and taste as starting points for a deeply reflective poem. Her writing brings together sensory detail, emotion and imaginative comparisons, showing how curiosity about another person can inspire questions that reach beyond what we can see or hear.

Congratulations to Brooke and Darcy, who received books, chocolate and Amazon vouchers, and a huge well done to everyone who entered the competition. Sharing creative work takes confidence, and every entry helped make this celebration of poetry possible.

Thank you to our winners for allowing us to share their poems. We hope you enjoy reading them and that they inspire you to take a moment to notice, question and wonder too.
