Headteacher’s Achievement Time

We have recently re-commenced our cycle of Headteacher’s Achievement Time for individual year groups.  This takes place at 8.15am on a Tuesday morning and provides pupils and students with the opportunity to share they achievements and/or successes with myself and members of the Senior Leadership Team.

These can be related to either work in school or accomplishments achieved outside of school.

It is always wonderful to see the diverse and wide-ranging interests and hobbies of our pupils and students and is a real highlight of the week.

If you child has anything they would like to share please ask them to speak to their Head of Year Team.  In addition, we always welcome the opportunity to share such stories in the Sweyne Park Times and/or on our Facebook page, and simply ask for a short paragraph with an accompanying photograph, where possible.

Any contributions can be sent directly to Pupil Services at pupilservices@sweynepark.com or to your child’s Head of Year.

Travel Training

Please click here to access a link to Travel Training which supports young people with a diagnosed need such as ADHD, Autism or a physical disability to build their confidence when travelling on their own.  The training includes:

  • Building confidence in using buses or trains
  • personal safety
  • how to use timetables and buy tickets
  • road safety, including how to cope with traffic on major roads
  • what to do when things go wrong (e.g. the bus is late)

Winter Showcase Concert

I am delighted to confirm that our Winter Showcase Concert will, this year, take place on Tuesday 16th December at 6:00 pm.

The Concert will feature several soloists as well as regular ensemble groups such as the School Choir and the School Band.   This event provides a fantastic opportunity for the pupils and students to showcase their musical talent, and the evening is always enjoyed by both the performers and the audience.

If you would like to attend, tickets can be purchased via Scopay for £4 per person and collected from Pupil Services at the end of the day.  We hope to see you there to kick start the Christmas holiday period!

Christmas Dinner

Our ever-popular Christmas Dinner will be available this year on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th December at a cost of £4.94 for pupils/students – please ensure your child’s Scopay account is topped up in advance to cover the cost of this if they wish to have a Christmas dinner.

Click here to see the festive menu.

Please note that if a free school meal allowance is used for a Christmas dinner this will use the whole of the free school meal allowance for that day meaning there will be no funds available for other purchases unless the account is topped up beforehand.

Last Day of Term Arrangements

The Autumn term will finish at 12.30 pm on Friday 19th December, and will be Christmas Jumper Day.

Pupils and students will be encouraged to wear a Christmas Jumper over their usual school uniform and we ask for a small donation to our nominated charities.

And Finally…..

Enjoy the weekend.

Notice: Choir Rehearsals

Choir rehearsals will take place every Monday and Tuesday during form time in MU2 with Mrs. Hutton. These sessions will continue until January.
Please make sure to attend promptly.

The school choir performed at the annual Rayleigh Christmas Light Switch-On

On Thursday 27th November 2025, our school choir performed at the annual Rayleigh Christmas Light Switch-On Event.

They closed the choir section with confidence, joy, and the most magical festive spirit and we could not be prouder of each and every one of them.

Thank you to everyone who came along to cheer them on. Your support means so much, and our singers truly shone!

What do you do when you're not in school?

We would love to hear about your hobbies, interests and achievements...

If you have any stories and/or photos that you would like to share, please contact us at pupilservices@sweynepark.com

• Essex County Council is doing research into vaping among young people and would like to hear from parents and carers of 9-14 year olds. • We would like as many people as possible to complete this survey, whether they or their children vape or not. • The feedback will help us shape our future work around vaping in Essex.
If your child was unable to receive immunisation this week, eligible children and their parents can book appointments at our updated bookable catch-up clinics. 10/12/2025  16.00-20.00 Colchester 16/12/2025  16.00-20.00 Colchester 17/12/2025  12:00 -19:00 Chelmsford 29/11/2025 - 11:00 - 16:00 Billericay 06/12/2025 - 10:00 - 15:00 Harlow Library
