The Library was buzzing with excitement this week as students gathered for the annual Poetry Competition Prize Presentation. This year’s entries showcased a remarkable range of talent, creativity, and emotion, making the judges’ job both a joy and a challenge.
First place was awarded to Brooke for her powerful poem The Stage We Play On. We were particularly impressed by the poem’s strong rhythm and energy – it truly felt as though we were right there on the football pitch, living each moment of the game.
Second place went to Lucia for her poem Mirror Girl, which captivated readers with its striking imagery and reflective tone.
Third place was awarded to Evie for Where Love Begins – a beautifully emotive piece that touched hearts with its sincerity and depth.
Special commendations were also given to Amal and Sabrina, whose poems were highly commended for their originality and expressive language.
Winners were presented with certificates, books, Amazon vouchers – and, of course, some well-deserved chocolate!
Congratulations to all our young poets – and thank you to everyone who entered. Your words made this year’s competition unforgettable.
There has been much discussion in the Library this week with our Banned Books Week display.
All the books featured (and more!) have been either banned or challenged in schools or libraries across the world at different times. They are, however, available for YOU to borrow here at SPS. Why not see what all the fuss is about?
