Open Evening – 18th September 2025

Thank you to all of our pupils and students who assisted us as departmental helpers or tour guides at last night’s Open Evening, they were such a credit to the school and the best possible ambassadors.  We have already received so much positive feedback about the evening itself and, specifically, about our polite, respectful, knowledgeable pupils and students who were all very proud to show our visitors all that our school has to offer.

Communications and Who to Contact

We place great value on the home/school relationship and believe strongly in the effectiveness of working closely with parents and carers to ensure all our pupils achieve the very best possible outcomes during their time at Sweyne Park.

I thought it might be useful to provide a brief reminder of who to contact, in the first instance, if you have any queries:

For all learning/classroom matters/homework please contact your child’s class teacher (via Go4Schools initially)

For any pastoral matters relating to your child’s welfare and wellbeing, you should contact their Head of Year and/or the Assistant Head of Year:

Year 7                    Mr Price

Year 8                    Mr Fernandez/Mrs Minney

Year 9                    Mr Jones/Mrs Lockhart

Year 10                 Ms Jameson (Wed – Fri)/Ms Greene (Mon – Tues)/Ms Ford

Year 11                 Ms Garvey/Ms Porter

Sixth Form           Mr Woods/Ms Banks/Mrs Abel

For matters relating to SEND, please contact our SEND Team or our SENDCo directly, Miss Woodward on swoodward@sweynepark.com,

In line with our Communication Policy we will always aim to reply to you within 3 working days.  We firmly believe that clear and open communication between us as a school and you as parents/carers will always have a positive impact on pupils’ and students’ learning.

App and Game Age Ratings

It is often the case that age rating for apps and games on different providers’ platforms can be misleading and confusing, and often don’t match those which have been set by the app or game producer themselves.  This press release from 5Rights Foundation is helpful in providing more details:

Apple and Google expose children to data privacy breaches through misleading app age ratings

If in doubt, searching “age” in the terms and conditions document should give you a definitive answer.

Achievements Outside of School

We very much enjoy hearing about all the exciting things our pupils and students do outside of school.  We know that so many of them are involved in clubs and charities and make a fantastic contribution to our community.  If your son/daughter has something they would like to share, please do contact us on pupilservices@sweynepark.com, so that we can include a short article, and where possible, accompanying photographs in the Sweyne Park Times. This can relate to a sporting success, charity work, a project they have been involved in or an interesting experience they would like to share.  We really do want to celebrate all the fantastic achievements of our pupils and students.  Thank you, in advance, for your support.

And Finally....

Have a good weekend…

Football Year 9’s

The Year 9 team played exceptionally well yesterday, with every player giving 100% effort! Their shooting was outstanding, and the defence was rock-solid, stopping most balls from getting anywhere near the goal.

The final score was 18-2 to Sweyne Park

Well done to all players, great start to the season

What do you do when you're not in school?

We would love to hear about your hobbies, interests and achievements...

If you have any stories and/or photos that you would like to share, please contact us at pupilservices@sweynepark.com
