Issue 978: 16th September 2022

Remembering HM Queen Elizabeth II

This week we have spent time in assemblies remembering the life and service of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, reflecting on her long and remarkable reign.  I have been incredibly proud of the respectful and mature way in which all of our pupils and students have conducted themselves.  To further honour her memory, we have held a 2 minutes silence this afternoon.  As I confirmed in my email earlier this week, due to the designated Bank Holiday for Her Majesty’s funeral, school will be closed on Monday 19th September, and will re-open at the usual time of 8.35am on Tuesday 20th September.

Coming Soon

Open Evening Tuesday 27th September – school will finish at 12.30 pm

Free School Meals

As you may be aware, parents on low incomes, and receiving certain benefits, are entitled to claim Free School Meals for their child(ren). Full details, and an application form, are available online at Alternatively, if you think you may be eligible, but want to find out more, please do ring Pupil Services at the school, and they will be happy to advise you and help with an application. If your claim is successful, a set amount will be credited to your child’s account in our cashless catering system, which ensures anonymity. It is well worth having – even if your child only uses it to buy a drink/snack to supplement a packed lunch!

To celebrate Roald Dahl Day on Tuesday 13th September, pupils were invited to wear a yellow sticker (Roald Dahl’s favourite colour) with either their favourite Dahl book or character written on.

Pupils discussed their favourite book or Roal Dahl character.
