School Uniform Donations

We would be grateful for any donations of high-quality second-hand school uniform.  Any items should be in good condition, and washed and ironed before donation.  If you are able to help, then please contact Pupil Services on pupilservices@sweynepark.com to arrange a mutually convenient delivery time.

Any donations received will be labelled with the size/fit and available to any families who may need some additional support in buying uniform.  Parents/carers will be able to donate any amount they can afford via a button on the new cashless payment system.  We hope that this new initiative will help to support families as the cost of living increases.

If you do have any problems obtaining any items of school uniform, please do contact us, in the strictest of confidence, on the email address above.

Road Safety

Please can I ask you to spend some time discussing the importance of road safety with your children. Pupils should not assume they have been seen by drivers and, where possible, should always cross at designated crossing points.  Children coming to school on bikes, should take care and remember how important it is to wear a helmet.  Can I also take the opportunity to ask you to remind them about always being respectful when cycling, and to be considerate to pedestrians and other road users.  Also, please do remind your children that e-scooters are illegal and definitely not permitted anywhere on site.  Thank you!

Good Luck to Year 11 and Year 13

I would like to take the opportunity to wish all of our Year 11 pupils and Year 13 students the very best of luck as the external examinations get into full swing next week.   This is an intense period of time, but with the right support, encouragement and guidance I know that our pupils and students will do their best.  We are all incredibly proud of how they have been approaching their exams, especially in light of the difficult time they have all experienced over the last few years.  Good luck!

Statutory School Appeals Could you be a Volunteer Panel Member?

Appeal Panels are convened to examine cases in which parents wish to contest either the refusal by a school’s Admissions Authority to admit a child, or a Governing Body’s decision to permanently exclude a child.

Essex County Council Statutory Appeals Team are currently looking for panel members for both Admission Appeals and Exclusion Appeals. Each case is heard by 3 panel members, including one who is trained to act as a chairperson. A trained clerk is also present and gives advice on the law and regulations to make sure panel members follow the right procedures. Do you have the ability to listen, to be impartial without being swayed by emotion, can appreciate both sides of an argument and are able to make reasoned decisions, you may be just the person we are looking for. Can you spare a few days or more each year to participate in this rewarding and interesting task?

Previous specialist knowledge of this field is not essential, we are looking for people who have time to consider the issues properly. We offer full training and will reimburse travel and subsistence expenses, although at present Appeal Hearings take place via Zoom..

Membership of Appeal Panels is constituted in accordance with the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, and some people may not be eligible to serve.

If you would like further information please contact Ann Coldicott.
