Artsmark Award Gold

I am delighted to confirm that we have, once again this week, been awarded the Artsmark Gold Award in recognition of all of the fantastic work we do with the Arts.  We are incredibly proud of our Arts curriculum at Sweyne Park and that our pupils “have access to an arts-rich education through a consistent established curriculum, and extra-curricular arts activities”.  We really do value the Arts, and it is wonderful to have the opportunity to share such positive and uplifting news with you.

Self-Isolation Period

As I am sure you will have seen in the News, the Government has, this week, reduced the period of self-isolation, following a positive test result, to 5 days.  This means that pupils who return two consecutive negative tests (taken 24 hours apart) can return to school on day 6, assuming that they do not have a high temperature, and are feeling well enough to do so.

Year 10 Jack Petchey – Speak Out Challenge

On Monday the Speakers Trust delivered an excellent, interactive workshop to some of our Year 10 pupils.  The pupils spent time developing their communication and writing skills, as the trainer shared strategies on overcoming nerves, delivering speeches, and how to work together to give positive and constructive feedback. The pupils worked hard to overcome their nerves, and, at the end of the workshop, were able to deliver their speeches with great confidence to their peers and their Head of Year, Miss Jameson.

All of the pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and learnt some valuable and transferrable life skills that will prepare them well for the future.  Congratulations to all the pupils involved, and a particular well done to the following pupils who were crowned winners, and will progress to the next round of the competition:  Maya B, Abigail B, Dylan H, Keira W and Dean T.

And Finally …

Enjoy your weekend.
