A big “well done” to our Year 11 pupils for completing their mock examinations this week. We were all impressed by their mature approach and conduct and hope that they can now enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation.
Year 13 will, however, I am sure, be spending some of the holiday preparing for the forth-coming mock examinations in January. I would encourage them manage their work/life balance carefully as they too deserve some recuperation time after their hard work this term. We wish them all the very best of luck with these important exams.
Communication over the Christmas Break
Given the evolving situation, I am sure that the guidance will continue to develop, and may well be subject to change. Whilst I will endeavour not to disturb you during the Christmas holidays, please do keep an eye on your emails as I will contact you as and when necessary.
Testing on 4th January 2022
As I mentioned in my email earlier in the week, the Government has asked us to offer all pupils and students an on-site Lateral Flow Test before they officially return to school for the start of term. This will be carried out on Tuesday 4th January 2022, and with the exception of Year 13 students, who start their mock examinations on this day, all other pupils will be required to go home after their LFT, and return to school on Wednesday 5th January, providing they receive a negative LFT result. You will only be contacted if your son/daughter tests positive. Pupils are not required to wear school uniform on this day.
As you will appreciate, this does require a lot of testing to be carried out in a short period of time. To assist us, I would be grateful if you could support by sending your child(ren) into school at the following times:
Year 13 – in exams
8.30 am – 8.45 am
Year 13 – not in exams
8.45 am – 9.00 am
9.30 am – 12.30 pm
1.30 pm – 3.00 pm
9.15 am – 10.15 am
10.30 am – 11.30 am
11.45 am – 12.30 pm
1.30 pm – 2.15 pm
2.30 pm – 3.00 pm
Should this present logistical problems in terms of transporting siblings in different year groups at different times, we are happy to be flexible and minimise any inconvenience to you.
The LFT will be carried out in the Sports Hall, and staff will be on hand to assist and support our pupils and students. Pupils and students who have tested positive for COVID-19 since 5th October 2021 (in line with the current 90-days guidance) do not need to come in to school for a LFT on 4th January 2022.
And Finally …
May I take the opportunity to thank you for all your support and cooperation over this last year, and to wish you and your families a very merry Christmas, and best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year.
