Testing Programme

As I mentioned last week, it is crucial that we continue to follow the guidelines and take the twice-weekly Lateral Flow Tests (LFT) to mitigate against the spread of COVID-19. Although thankfully we are, finally, starting to see the number of cases decline, it is vital that we continue to take and record the LFT results on the TestRegister application. Unfortunately, we have begun to see a drop in the regularity of tests taken by some of our pupils and students, however now is not the time to become complacent, and we really do need to continue with the testing programme. We have recently been notified that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID-19 despite already having had COVID, and, more recently, the vaccine. This is a reminder that the virus is still prevalent, and we all have a social responsibility to do everything we can to protect ourselves and others. If you are experiencing any problems using the TestRegister system, please contact our IT Team on, who will be happy to help you. Thank you for your support.

Updating Contact Details

Please can I remind parents and carers that if your contact details change in any way, please do notify us as soon as possible, via It is vital that the information we hold is up-to-date, so that we can ensure effective communication with you and, of course, contact you in an emergency. Thank you in advance for your help.

National Online Safety App

We have recently been made aware of a new App developed in conjunction with National Online Safety. The App empowers parents and carers to understand and address online safeguarding risks. It has lots of insightful courses, explainer videos, webinars and guides on topics that will help you to protect your children when they are online. The App is free to download, and can be accessed here: I would strongly encourage you to take a look, as there really is a huge amount of helpful information on there, and the App covers many of the latest games, trends and websites that our pupils and students are following/using online.

Book of the Week

By Angie Thomas (YA)

“A hard-hitting return to Garden Heights with the story of Maverick Carter, Starr’s father, set seventeen years before the events of the award-winning The Hate U Give. With his King Lord dad in prison and his mom working two jobs, seventeen-year-old Maverick Carter helps the only way he knows how: slinging drugs.

Life’s not perfect, but he’s got everything under control.

Until he finds out he’s a father… Suddenly it’s not so easy to deal drugs and finish school with a baby dependent on him for everything.

So when he’s offered the chance to go straight, he takes it.

But when King Lord blood runs through your veins, you don’t get to just walk away.”

A powerful voice, this story will have you gripped!
