Respecting our Community

Please can I ask you to  take a few minutes to remind your children of the importance of showing respect to our neighbours and the wider local school community.

This includes taking pride in our environment by using litter bins or taking litter home, and being considerate of those who live near the school.

Our school has a strong ethos of respect, and we appreciate your continued support in helping our pupils and students uphold these values beyond the school gates.

Free School Meals

As you may be aware, parents on low incomes, and receiving certain benefits, are entitled to claim Free School Meals for their child(ren). Full details, and an application form, are available online at www.essex.gov.uk/free-school-meals.

Alternatively, if you think you may be eligible, but want to find out more, please do ring Pupil Services at the school, and they will be happy to advise you and help with an application. If your claim is successful, a set amount will be credited to your child’s account in our cashless catering system, which ensures anonymity.

It is well worth having – even if your child only uses it to buy a drink/snack to supplement a packed lunch!

School Uniform Donations

We are very proud of our school uniform, and value the sense of belonging and identity that pupils and students get from wearing it.  However, we are aware that with the rising costs of living, it can be difficult for families to always buy brand new items of uniform.  With this in mind, we are committed to ensuring access to the correct uniform is never a barrier to learning.

We have always supported families via lost property items and/or kind donations of second-hand school uniform.  However, in order to continue to support as many families as possible, we would be grateful for donations of any items of uniform that are in good condition. These will be then available for sale at a discounted rate to anyone who may need to make use of the facility.  The proceeds of any sales will go to the PTA.

From September 2026 we will be following the statutory guidance from the Department for Education of three branded items of uniform plus a school tie. I will write to you with further details later in the year.

If you do have any problems obtaining any items of school uniform, please do contact us, in the strictest of confidence, at pupilservices@sweynepark.com.

Our Help Centre

I wanted to remind you that you can obtain help to access a number of online platforms that we use in school by visiting our Help Centre on our website, simply click the “Help” button on the top left-hand side of the home screen.

In particular, for anyone struggling to access Go4Schools, there is a very useful “how to” guide available. Alternatively you can click here and you will be directed to the relevant page for Go4Schools support.

Whilst our IT Team are always very happy to help with any technical queries, you will find answers to a lot of FAQs within the documents contained in our online Help Centre and so it is always worth a quick look before contacting us.

And Finally….

Enjoy the weekend.

Fundraising Success – Well Done, Logan!

On 28th December, Logan organised and took part in a 12-hour fundraising darts-a-thon in support of Macmillan Cancer Support, held in loving memory of his aunty, who he sadly lost earlier this year.

Logan originally set himself a fundraising target of £150, which he absolutely smashed, raising an incredible £769.75 in total.

Anyone who would still like to contribute to this fantastic cause is very welcome to do so. Every donation is greatly appreciated.

The Healthy Schools Team

The Healthy Schools team are conducting research to better understand children and young people’s habits when it comes to hydration. As part of this work, we are keen to identify the challenges parents face when encouraging water consumption with children.

Their objective is to develop a resource campaign that supports both parents and schools.

We want to encourage parents to help their children adopt water-only habits before they begin school.

Parents – Hydration survey for Parents  – Fill in form

• Essex County Council is doing research into vaping among young people and would like to hear from parents and carers of 9-14 year olds. • We would like as many people as possible to complete this survey, whether they or their children vape or not. • The feedback will help us shape our future work around vaping in Essex.
PoTS is a condition that affects the autonomic nervous system, causing symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, brain fog, and a rapid heart rate when standing up.
