Trips and Visits – Home and Away!

Last week was a busy and exciting week for trips and visits.  Mrs Wadie, Ms Garvey, Mr Richardson  and Mr Jackson took a group of pupils to Berlin during which the city was undoubtably at one of its busiest with all of the football-mania going on!

This was a fantastic experience for the pupils and one which I am sure they will never forget.

On Friday Mrs Reeves took a small group of pupils for an action-packed day of outdoor activities at Stubbers Farm.

Great fun was had by all and the pupils were a credit to the staff and the school.  They all thoroughly enjoyed taking part in various activities including archery, raft building, paddle-boarding and climbing.

Friday also saw a group of pupils undertake their first practice Duke of Edinburgh expedition as they spent 2 days hiking from the village hall in Pleshey to Mill Green in Ingastone, with an overnight stay in Skreens Scout camp.  The pupils all showed great resilience, encouraging each other and demonstrating excellent orienteering skills.

Good luck to them all when the times comes for the final expedition in October.

New Staff – September 2024

As promised, I would like to introduce the new members of staff who will be joining us in September

  • Ms Cleverley, teacher of Science
  • Ms Kingston, teacher of ICT
  • Mrs Lawes, teacher of Maths

I am sure that the pupils and students will give them all a very warm welcome when they return to school.

Summer Concert and Art Exhibition

On Tuesday evening we hosted these two very special events and many thanks to everyone who came along to support.

The standard of art on display was exceptional and a showcase of the diverse talent of our pupils and students.  Likewise, the music concert was one of the best we have ever held and involved so many pupils and students across the whole age range.

There was a wonderful variety of different performances, ranging from soloists to ensembles to musical theatre and even an entertaining comedy act! It was truly heartening to see the older students supporting the younger pupils and being such aspirational role models.

Sadly, this was Mrs Townsend’s final performance, as she is relocating over the summer.

We are all incredibly sorry to see her go but the pupils and students certainly did her proud on Tuesday evening and we wish her all the very best for the future.

Start of Term Arrangements

I would like to take the opportunity to remind you that on Tuesday 3rd September 2024 we will welcome our new Year 7 pupils and our Year 12 students to Sweyne Park.

And Finally…..

I do hope that you will all have a wonderful summer and enjoy spending some time with your family and friends.  See you in September!
