Royal Society’s Young People’s Book Prize
Once again, the Library’s Book clubs were chosen to be an official judging panel for the Royal Society’s Young People’s Book Prize.
The Book prize features six science-related books, aimed at younger audiences, and the pupils read and discussed them all, awarding marks in the categories: Ease of reading / Interest / Look & feel and Inspiration
Our Book Clubs have enjoyed the whole process and on Friday they merged for the final debate to choose our overall winner.
It was great to see the Year 7s showing no intimidation in the presence of the older students and holding their own in the debate.
The debate was excellent – and almost every student spoke up with either a point, a challenge or response
It was an incredibly close run debate – and the split remained equal between the two top books, but when pushed Live like a Hunter Gatherer just about pipped it!
