Just to remind you that we have our annual Open Evening on Tuesday 26th September and pupils will be dismissed at 12.30 pm. A huge number have volunteered to return and support the event as tour guides or departmental helpers. I am incredibly grateful to them all as they really are our greatest ambassadors.
Following the evening itself we will, once again, be hosting a series of tours which will run every day at 9.00am from Thursday 28th September to Friday 6th October. To accommodate the tours, we will be making a temporary change to the start of the school day. Therefore, please note that from Monday 25th September to Friday 6th October we will revert to our previous model which is:
This is unfortunate but unavoidable due to the need to avoid a whole school movement during the middle of the tour and the associated safeguarding implications.
We are looking forward to resuming the current model from Monday 9th October as we have seen a drastic improvement in punctuality and attendance since making the change. Furthermore, all pupils are now benefiting from receiving the important messages, information and education shared in assemblies and during tutor time.
We are holding our annual Open Evening on Tuesday 26th September, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. As we have done on previous occasions, in order to allow staff to prepare for the event, school will finish at 12.30pm on that day. We will welcome all pupils and students back to school at the usual time of 8.35 am on Wednesday 27th September.

You may have heard from your child(ren) that since the start of term we have needed to evacuate the building on three occasions. The first was our routine practice drill carried out in line with statutory guidance. The second was a genuine alarm due to an over-heated microwave but, unfortunately the third evacuation was as a result of a deliberate act of vandalism. Regrettably, we have no CCTV where this particular call point was broken and so have not been able to sanction the pupil(s) responsible. Please could I ask you to remind your child(ren) about the seriousness of such behaviour and the potential loss to other lives when a fire crew needs to be diverted to an unnecessary call out. Where pupils have been identified in the past, a very serious sanction has been imposed in line with our Behaviour Policy. Thank you for your support with this.
On a positive note I would, however, like to congratulate the pupils for conducting themselves so sensibly and maturely on each of the occasions and it is safe to say, they are now well drilled!!
We have been receiving a number of phone calls reporting the absence of pupils with COVID and requesting guidance around isolation rules. For your information, please be aware that there are no longer any requirements to isolate or to test and COVID should be treated in the same way as any other illness.
Therefore, if your child is feeling too unwell to come to school, please notify our Attendance Team on 01268 780293 or pupilabsence@sweynepark.com. They do not need to return a negative test in order to come back to school but can do so as soon as they feel well enough.
Have a good weekend.
