ASSESSMENT

COURSEWORK

Coursework Assessment - 25%

EXAMINATION

Pupils will be examined at three points in the course, June of Year 10, January of Year 11 and June of Year 11.

HOME LEARNING

This will be an important part of the course and will be set every week. Home learning will be based on the topic area being studied. Pupils should inform the subject of any difficulties encountered with the completion of home learning.

EDUCATION EXTRA, SUPPORT AND TRIPS

  • The Old Operating Theatre, London
  • The Science Museum, London
  • Poland - Krakow and Auschwitz trip

HOW PARENTS CAN HELP

Parents/carers are encouraged to discuss class and home learning with pupils. The department provides an overview of topics covered and important deadlines to be met. Lessons, mark schemes and assessments are available on the school intranet.

SECURING SUCCESS

The progress and performance of pupils will be monitored throughout the course. We provide an invaluable intranet site, activities that suit a range of learning styles, and an emphasis on life skills and doing as much as knowing. Parents/carers of pupils who are underachieving will be notified and History workshops will be organised for pupils who feel the need for reinforcement or to help those who find aspects of private study difficult.

STAFF

Subject Leader for History – Catherine McCrory

If you would like further information or have any queries/concerns please contact the class teacher or Miss McCrory.
