COURSE CONTENT

Information and Communication Technology provides an interesting and challenging course for all students. There are two main reasons for pupils taking up this course:

  1. To acquire an understanding of today’s technology, enabling students to take part in tomorrow’s world.
  2. To foster an interest in technology and achieve an understanding of information systems, preparing students to follow further courses leading to A level, GNVQ, AVC or BTEC qualifications.

COMPUTER NETWORK TIME

Pupils are given the opportunity to design and create work through a variety of tasks.  Two-thirds of the course is spent on the school computers, learning about all the major up-to-date software applications: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, powerpoint, web page design and desktop publishing. Many other computer packages are experienced, including computer aided design, programming and data logging. CDs are explored and the Internet extensively accessed.  Scanners and digital cameras can be used by students to create professional looking presentations.
